Surf's Up in LA: Richter Weekle Double-Overhead Sets from Sunrise (2026)

The surf in Los Angeles put on an incredible show this week, and it was a sight to behold! The waves were simply electric, and the buzz in the air was palpable.

I was there at sunrise, ready to capture the peak of this epic swell. And let me tell you, it lived up to the hype and then some! With my trusty Canon lens, I filmed this spectacle from a mile away, and the morning mist and spray only added to the magic. The surf was at its biggest early on, with some double-overhead sets that were a thrill to witness.

But here's where it gets controversial... or at least, a point of discussion. Some might argue that the distance at which I filmed took away from the raw power of the waves. However, I'd like to invite you to consider the unique perspective it offered. By capturing the surf from afar, I aimed to showcase the vastness of the ocean and the sheer scale of these powerful waves. It's a different take, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on it!

For those who want to dive deeper into my work, you can find more of my adventures on my YouTube channel. I'd be delighted to have you join me there!
