The storm's intensity reached G4 levels at 7:38 pm GMT, marking it as the second-strongest category. The speed of the solar particles was astonishing; they traveled from the sun to Earth in just 25 hours, a journey that typically takes 3 to 4 days!
Shawn Dahl from NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center noted that a solar radiation storm of this magnitude hasn't occurred since 2003. These storms can impact space objects and satellite operations and may cause voltage fluctuations.
