In the realm of rookie quarterback performances, the preseason is a crucial battleground for young signal-callers to make their mark. This year, several promising prospects took to the field, each aiming to impress and secure their spot in the NFL. Among them, Drew Allar of the Steelers stood out, exceeding expectations in his NFL debut against the Packers. With a 10-for-13 accuracy rate and two touchdown passes, Allar displayed the arm strength and accuracy that made him an intriguing prospect coming out of Penn State. His performance was all the more impressive considering he had just returned from a broken ankle suffered in October of last year. Allar's ability to make quick, open completions and his perfect read on the read option for his rushing touchdown showcased his potential as a future starter. While the Steelers' defense was playing backups, Allar's performance was still notable, and it will be interesting to see how he fares in future games against more seasoned opponents. In my opinion, Allar's performance was a strong indicator of his potential, and it will be exciting to watch his development as he continues to improve and compete for the QB3 spot behind Aaron Rodgers and Mason Rudolph. Personally, I think Allar has the makings of a solid starter, and his performance against the Packers was a strong step in the right direction.
