Kid Rock Defends Against Lip-Syncing Accusations in All American Halftime Show
Kid Rock faced backlash for his performance during the All American Halftime Show, organized by the right-wing political group Turning Point USA. The 55-year-old rap-rock-turned-country star addressed the controversy, denying any lip-syncing in his 1999 track 'Bawitdaba'.
In a video on X, he explained, 'That song is chaotic. If I was ever going to lip sync, which I wouldn't, that would be the last song I'd do it to. We've performed this song every night on tour since 1998. Turning Point USA sent me a first cut, and my comment was, 'The sync is off.' They were trying to line it up, but it was difficult because someone wasn't familiar with the song. We could have done it with more time.'
Kid Rock emphasized his positive relationship with Turning Point USA and the production team, acknowledging that 'nobody's perfect every time'. He also criticized the NFL's choice of Bad Bunny as the official Super Bowl halftime show performer, expressing his confusion about the performance, which featured Spanish-language songs and extravagant choreography.
Kid Rock stated, 'I didn't understand any of it. I saw a lot of dancers and big production. It's not my style, but I don't fault Bad Bunny for performing at the Super Bowl and reaching a global audience. I fault the NFL for putting him in that position and Turning Point for having to provide an alternative. It's just a pity for the kid.'
